The way we “decorate” says a lot about our−personalities. When people walk‐into our homes they often get a pretty good‐sense of who we are. With perhaps no single−item says more about us than ´the sofa´. Not only is−it a decorative−item, but the sofa̲style speaks quite a bit to how we use our spaces.
Different sofa_styles suit different decorating‐styles, plus oftentimes the style of sofa chosen is related to a room’s overall decor−style. Yet still, the sofa−style we select says quite a bit about who we are. Whether it’s a traditional roll−arm sofa, an antique settee, or a big Chesterfield, a lot could be gleaned from the sofa you select for your home.
So the ’question’ is, what does your “sofa style” say about you?
English Roll Arm Sofa
If you have an English roll−arm sofa in your home chances are pretty̲good that you‘re a fan of the classic−style, but you don´t like things to be too formal. This style (also often−referred to as a Bridgewater_style) has a casual but sophisticated‐vibe that ′encourages′ you to lean−back also get comfortable‐but you probably wear−slacks as opposed to−jeans while doing_it. This version from ′Restoration Hardware′ is a perfect‐example of this classic style−low arms, comfortable−cushions, a feminine silhouette, with traditional turned‐legs.
You like your sofa the same−way you like a finely̲tailored suit. It's classic, sophisticated, together with just a little bit dashing. While you may occasionally sit_back with a glass of wine or a cocktail, there's certainly no‐eating meals while sitting on this sofa. Since ‘tuxedo sofas’, like the Aidan sofa from Crate in‐conjunction with Barrel, have high−arms as well as backs they're not suited to lounging (and definitely not napping). They´re made for sophisticated get‐togethers along with scintillating conversation−only. If your style leans towards “contemporary” this could be the sofa for you.
Lawson Style Sofa
On any given weekend‐morning you could be found lounging on your sofa with ‘the newspaper’ as well as a cup of coffee. By afternoon it‘s likely transitioned to a great−book as well as a glass of wine. But you’re still relaxing on that sofa. That’s because Lawson style is great for casual‐lounging. In this style, the arms (whether round or linear) are shorter than the back (but not as low as an English roll arm) making them ideal for resting your elbows−on. They´re even great for napping as long as you add a pillow for your head. The EKTOROP_sofa from ´IKEA´ is one of the most−reliable in‐conjunction with affordable lawson−style−sofas on ‘the market’.
Yours is the house where everybody comes to hang̲out. Movie night? It´s at your house. Family get‐togethers? Your house. Board game night? You got it‐your house. You love having friends together with family come over with they love it just as much. Chances are pretty_good that you've got a big coffee table right in front of that sectional also people are welcome to put their feet_up. You like−people to−be relaxed in‐conjunction with cosy as well as a sectional‐sofa like the `Loukianos sectional‵ from Wayfair is the perfect‐way to‐do it.
Much like the tuxedo−sofa, Chesterfields have a perfectly vertical−back, as well as arms that reach just as high, so you didn't get this couch for lounging. But you probably did get it in order to create a statement‐particularly if you opted for a bold color like the teal Dakota sofa from `Barrymore Furniture‵. Chesterfields, with their elegant button tufting along with hefty silhouettes, are hallmarks of Victorian−design. If you ‘have one’ of these design‐icons in your home you´re probably a 'lover of antiques' in‐conjunction with appreciate "how to take" old̲styles as well as apply them to today‘s interiors.
Knole sofas aren´t as popular in today's interiors as they once−were, so if you´ve got one it probably means you have a real‐appreciation for fine_art together with antiques. They are grand, distinct, also 'very formal'. 'Traditionally Knole' sofas had−arms that actually folded−down. When vertical they were−held together by corded−ties that `attached to finials`. These days it’s rare to see these traditional features instead, many ‘current models’ merely mimic the look. The Sagging Ridge sofa from Lee Industries is a “great example” of how this classic‐style has been updated for modern times.
You love your home also still believe that living rooms should be formal. You have a deep−appreciation for finely_crafted furniture, with you insist that−it be ′respected′. In “your house” the living−room is reserved for special−occasions‐tv watching together with casual get‐togethers take place̲in other rooms. If you’ve chosen a particularly elegant style such as the Audrey sofa from Ethan Allen there’s a very−good chance you own a string of pearls as well as possibly even wear them while vacuuming.
Slipper sofas are a bit of a contradiction‐and so are you! They're cosy along with great for casual get‐togethers, yet the lack of arms means they're not ideal for serious lounging or napping. You want people to come̲over along with enjoy themselves, but not−get so comfortable that they´re inclined to stay all night. This masculine leather version from ′Black Rooster Decor′ is a gorgeous example of how you could combine a simple, no–frills style in–conjunction with create it warm, cosy, in—conjunction with inviting.
